Neon Nature Trail, 2025

Neon Nature Trail is a painting series composed of square canvases in oil and acrylic. I’m inspired by my weekly walks around Miami, which help me manage anxiety and stay grounded. These walks encourage me to slow down and notice the intricacies of the natural world, including subtle changes in light, shape, and texture.

The square format creates a sense of modularity and balance, making the work feel like puzzle pieces of a larger map. The varying dimensions function symbolically, mapping different emotions along a non-linear path.

Small works are Markers - quiet but deeply felt,

Medium works are Waypoints - guides or turning points,

And the largest pieces are Landmarks - representations of transformative experiences.

Each painting begins with a thorough layer of acrylic, followed by fluid strokes of thin oil paint. The palette shifts from neon yellows to vivid pinks, reflecting emotions such as happiness, passion, and vulnerability.

Neon Nature Trail examines our relationship to the self and how that reflects in our connection to the world. Through mapping this journey, I seek to ask:

What does your nature trail look like, and where might it lead you?

Neon Nature Trail

Fantastical breath

In the pursuit of adventure

In expressive observation

Wholly present

Speaking with vibrancy

Uninterrupted by the past

Accompanied and cherished

Grounded and alive

Transformed and pursued

In movement with the earth

And discovered by the wanderer
